Process

From plant to head. When the first plants are put into the ground in beginning-March, it’s still too cold at night. That’s why the first plantings are covered with foil. At the end of April/beginning of May, the first lettuce heads are ready to be harvested. Harvesting is done mechanically, with a harvester. On the harvester the heads are cut and packaged to customer specifications. After the lettuce heads have passed through a washer and have been stacked on pallets, they are directly transported into the cold store before being shipped. From the beginning of May to the end of October, there is a continuous cycle of planting and harvesting in order to make sure continuity throughout the season is guaranteed.
